Sauna
Enjoy the healing benefits of heat with a sit in our dry sauna. Regular sauna usage is said to ease muscle tension, benefit circulation and heart health, enhance immunity, promote glowing skin, detoxify the body, and aide in relaxation. Our barrel sauna provides our guests with an outdoor communal sauna sitting experience. Because here at Bow Sanctuary we believe in the power of quiet time to reflect inward, we know we heal best in community and love soaking in the beauty of nature. We invite you to slow down, let the heat soak deep into your bones and rejuvenate your body, mind and spirit.
Our Sauna is kept between 130-165 degrees (f) and comfortably seats 4 to 6 guests. This is a communal space for our members, treatment clients, and yoga class students.

How it works
Check in with therapist, instructor or reception desk, enjoy the sauna and make sure to check out at reception when you are done
pre-sauna
Prepare
It is best to come hydrated and ready to sweat. We provide towels (1 per guest) and cups but feel free to bring any extras or a robe. Remember our policy is “cover your bits”, so bring appropriate clothing such as a clean bathing suit and easy slip on shoes.
Step 1
Arrive
Check in at reception or with your instructor/therapist. They’ll show you the way to the changing area. We recommend you use a provided warm moist towelette to cleanse the skin to prepare for your sauna experience. All that is not needed in the sauna(non valuable items) can be left in the cubbies in the changing area.
Step 2
Enter
Enter the sauna quietly, please sit on a towel to help keep things sanitary for the next sauna guest. Stay for as long as serves you, we recommend 10-20 minutes. Take a few deep breaths, relax and let the heat do all the work.
Step 3
Cool
Exit the sauna and allow the body to cool in our wonderfully refreshing tidal air. Enjoy something cool to drink while sitting. Let your toes crunch in the pea-gravel.
Step 4
Return
As your body temperature begins to cool, find your way back to the welcoming heat of the sauna. Perhaps this time introduce some light self massaging of the skin, gentle stretching and continued deep breaths.
Step 5
Plunge
The cool down is a little more drastic this time around. Find your way to our version of a Nordic plunge/shower by letting the cold Blanchard water wash over you. This might send you immediately back into the sauna or continue to sit outside in the sauna patio.
and on it goes...
Repeat
Repeat as many times as needed to find warmth and healing. Make sure to give yourself ample time to rest after your final sit to come back into yourself and re-enter reality.
Finish
Check-out
Pop into reception on your way out to let our staff know you are all done. Enjoy a cup of tea from Persimmon and stroll the gardens. Drink plenty of water and enjoy the rest of your day.
